Featuring Music From 2018
I know what you’re thinking: who is this blogger chick and why is she telling me what music to listen to? So let me first acknowledge: taste is subjective. I like what I like. You like what you like. If you listen to Justin Timberlake’s horrendous Cave Man album (or whatever it’s called) in the shower, I think that’s great. #YOLO #instalife
But here’s the deal… I like music…and writing… a lot.
And I’m not just an appreciator. I play music. I’ve played guitar for 15 years and have toured myself – four times. I understand what goes into making music, releasing records and promotion. And even with all my disillusionment of the music industry, I still love music.
I also love writing. I have an MFA in fiction from CU Boulder. I’ve also managed to build a career as a writer in marketing (I like to joke that marketing is where artists go to make a living). As you can probably guess, any way I can blend words and music is the sweet spot. One really simple way I get to do this every day is listening to music at my desk, and I know I’m not alone here. For all those writers or desk jockeys who listen to music to find a productive groove, this one’s for you. The best part: all this music is brand new, so next time you’re around your music snob friend (like me), you’ll steal the show.
